Gideon (Kallie) Erasmus is an attorney, notary and conveyancer whose firm, Erasmus Attorneys, specialises in environmental and development law out of Prince Albert, a small, picturesque town at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains in the arid Karoo region of South Africa.
Kallie is not only a lawyer. He is also a social scientist, environmentalist, activist, chef who once owned his own restaurant, exhibited landscape artist who prefers watercolours, photographer, husband, father of 3, grandfather to 5, and an inveterate lover of the African bush, particularly the Serengeti in Tanzania and South Africa’s Kruger National Park. In the early ‘90s Kallie was seconded to Absa, South Africa’s largest bank, as a conceptual consultant. There he was paid to come up with ideas that could be useful to the bank outside its core function.
