Olivier Chouc was appointed Vice-President, Law at CN in January 2011. A graduate from the Faculty of Law of Université Laval he started his career in private practice, before joining the legal department of one of his client. A few years later he joined where he climbed the corporate ladder to his current position. Olivier is responsible for the Law department as well as the Claims group, the Workers Compensation Group and the Indigenous Affairs Group. In 2005, he was named Canada’s Top 40 under 40 In-House Counsel by the National Post and has since been recognized amongst the Most Influential Lawyers in Business in 2015 and as a Lawyer of Distinction in 2022.
Focussed on developing further the next generation of leaders and contributing to the continuous alignment of his Department with the Company’s vision and mission, Olivier believes in a generation of business lawyers who understand the needs and priorities of the business and are prepared to work hard and passionately to support those needs and priorities, without compromising their work ethics.
Olivier is also involved in numerous charitable organizations the CN Employees’ and Pensioners’ Community Fund of whom he is Chairman of the Board.
